Who we are

Mission
Pyramid Public Relations strives to provide high-quality services in professionally meeting the clients’ public relations and communications needs while affording student-employees the chance to grow into adept and responsible PR practitioners.
History
Pyramid Public Relations opened its doors in 1980 as a component of the Raymond D. Wiley chapter of Public Relations Society of America (PRSSA). In 1987, and again in 1989, Pyramid was honored as the outstanding student-run agency in the country by PRSSA. Originally, the members of the Raymond D. Wiley PRSSA chapter were required to be a part of a committee and a Pyramid account team. In order to increase the efficiency and to recruit students whom were committed to the success of Pyramid, chapter leaders developed the firm as a separate entity in the spring of 2004. Since then, the firm has had an average of 15 to 20 employees every semester. On an average, three to five clients are represented, with three to four members representing each client.
Background
Pyramid Public Relations is a non-profit student-run public relations firm dedicated to achieving public relations for clients in the southern Illinois community. The firm pledges to operate under the PRSSA code of ethics and to represent the Raymond D. Wiley PRSSA chapter professionally. Pyramid members strive to achieve the dual objectives of providing quality services and gaining hands-on experience.
Position Descriptions
Pyramid is run under the direction of the PRSSA Director, with the PRSSA faculty advisors and graduate advisors overseeing all work produced by members of the firm. Two members directly assist the Director. One assistant is in charge of keeping the firm connected with the local Public Relations Society of America (PRSSA) chapter and the other is responsible for assisting the Director with records and secretarial tasks. Account Executives oversee their account teams and report directly to the Director.
